Lo switch supporta inoltre l'autenticazione 802.1X basata sulle porte e consente di autenticare la rete con un server RADIUS esterno. Inoltre la funzione ACL (elenco di controllo di accesso) potenzia la sicurezza di rete e contribuisce a proteggere la rete informatica interna. Il DGS-1210-16 comprende la funzione di ARP Spoofing, che protegge dagli attacchi nella rete Ethernet, che possono consentire a un intruso di intercettare frame di dati su una LAN, modificare il traffico, o bloccare completamente il traffico inviando messaggi ARP falsi alla rete. Al fine di prevenire attacchi di ARP Spoofing, lo switch utilizza gli ACL di controllo per bloccare pacchetti non validi contenenti messaggi ARP falsi. Per una maggiore protezione, la funzione di screening del server DHCP nasconde i pacchetti di server DHCP inaffidabili alle porte degli utenti al fine di impedire l'assegnazione non autorizzata dell'IP. Gestione versatile Il DGS-1210 è dotato dell'utilità SmartConsole e di un'interfaccia basata sul Web che consente agli amministratori di controllare la rete da una postazione remota a livello porta. SmartConsole permette agli utenti di rilevare in modo semplice più Web Smart Switch D-Link all'interno dello stesso segmento di rete L2. Grazie a questa utilità, non è più necessario modificare l'indirizzo IP del proprio PC e diventa inoltre possibile eseguire una semplice configurazione iniziale degli Smart Switch. Gli switch all'interno dello stesso segmento di rete L2 connessi al PC vengono visualizzati sullo schermo per permettere l'accesso immediato. Questo permette una dettagliata configurazione dello switch e una configurazione di base dei dispositivi rilevati, come la modifica delle password e gli aggiornamenti del firmware. La serie DGS-1210 supporta inoltre D-View 6.0, il sistema di gestione di rete D-Link e l'interfaccia CLI (Compact Command Line Interface) mediante Telnet. La gestione degli switch tramite l'interfaccia CLI è possibile via Telnet. Questo consente la regolazione delle impostazioni di base quali cambi di password o upload dei file di configurazione e del firmware. D-Link Green Il DGS-1210 implementa la tecnologia D-Link Green, un'idea innovativa che consente di risparmiare sui costi energetici senza tuttavia rinunciare alle prestazioni e alla funzionalità. Lo switch reagisce allo spegnimento di dispositivi connessi, mettendo in standby la relativa porta al fine di ridurre i consumi energetici. Rileva inoltre automaticamente la lunghezza dei cavi connessi, consentendo di ridurre i consumi energetici delle connessioni tramite cavi più corti fino a 20 m. La certificazione D-Link Green garantisce la conformità dello switch alle direttive RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) e WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). La direttiva RoHS limita l'utilizzo di determinati materiali nocivi nella produzione di apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche, mentre la direttiva WEEE detta gli standard da rispettare in materia di corretto smaltimento e imballaggi riciclabili per contribuire alla riduzione dei rifiuti.
