Deep Purple in Rock, anche noto come In Rock, è il quarto album del gruppo britannico Deep Purple, pubblicato nel 1970. Deep Purple in Rock è generalmente considerato come uno dei primi album hard rock, assieme a Led Zeppelin II dei Led Zeppelin, e Paranoid dei Black Sabbath. Sulla copertina sono raffigurati i volti dei componenti del gruppo come se fossero scolpiti al posto dei presidenti americani sul Monte Rushmore. Il titolo dell'album, Deep Purple in Rock, ha due significati: in rock può essere inteso come riferimento al genere musicale oppure tradotto con nella roccia, in riferimento all'immagine di copertina raffigurante le sculture nella roccia. Nelle studio chat della versione rimasterizzata Ritchie Blackmore e Jon Lord eseguono più volte la sigla di Braccio di Ferro (Popeye the Sailor). L'album è il primo della seconda formazione dei Deep Purple (nota come Mark II), con Ian Gillan e Roger Glover al posto di Rod Evans e Nick Simper.Tutte le canzoni sono state scritte da Blackmore/Gillan/Glover/Lord/Paice.
