The AE conducts customer consultations, pre-sales feasibility studies, product field trials, training and on-site post-delivery support. The AE works with Integrators, OEM's and End Users in a consultative manner to determine the feasibility and fit of company for their applications. The AE works closely with Application Engineering Management and Product Management to ensure alignment of customer applications with product direction. Essential Functions: Conducts customer consultations. Produces Site Visit Reports for each customer visited. Performs a gap analysis on potential applications. Creates prototype and demo applications. Recommends third party hardware for complete solutions where needed. Performs application testing on customer supplied images. Follows the life cycle of paid services from quoting, execution, customer acceptance through invoicing. Supports tradeshows. Provides customer training. Provides application development services.Develops a broad knowledge of company products and their use in machine vision applications. Provides product feedback to Application Engineering Management and Product Management. Timely and accurate expense reporting and trip documentation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle challenging customer situations. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and industrial automation systems. Working knowledge and ease with using computing devices running Linux, Windows and/or OS X. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, occasionally on short notice. Minimum education and work experience required: B.S. degree, preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent occupational experience. Programming experience using JavaScript - C, C++ or other high level programming language is an advantage. Knowledge of optics and/or lighting for machine vision applications. Knowledge of basic machine vision techniques and industrial / factory automation applications. 2-5 years' experience in related Sales Support functions. Responsible for the installation, service and maintenance of GPI machinery in constumer facilities. The incumbent is a key member of the Technical Service team and oartners with our converting and sales teams to meet the needs of the customers. Key Responsibilities: Conducts top-level troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of electrical, mechanical and controls related problems on machines installed at customer locations, including overhauls and field upgrades as necessaryParticipates in the development, processing and follow up of specifications during machinery tests, debugging and start up, as well as, during the development and field testing of new carton designsDevelops and maintains productive working relationships with customers and acts professionally and proactively to resolve equipment, cartons or service-related issuesAs the technical expert, partners with sales and converting manufacturing individuals and teams to resolve customer issues, as well as, support new business opportunities and product development projectsApplies continuous improvement concepts and techniques to increase equipment productivity.
