Genesis GPS-N is a compact GPS unit dedicated for selected Nikon cameras. Thanks to this device, photographs taken in open space can contain specific data about geographic location and altitude of the camera. The location data (saved in EXIF format) can be later used to find the place where the picture was taken. You can also place the photos on Google Maps with using a proper software, such as: Nikon ViewNX or Google Earth. Description: The heart of a receiver is a modern sensitive GPS unit (-165dBm) SKYLAB SKG13C ICBAA-1219. It supports 66 channels / 22 satellites, which makes it one of the fastest and most accurate GPS accessories used in photography. In cold start mode receiver can determine its position in 36 sec. In the hot start mode it takes 1 sec. Genesis GPS-N does not require its own battery, because its powered from GPS port in a camera. Unlike others, often more expensive receivers available on the market, Genesis GPS-N distinguish itself with very low power consumption (35mA in tracking mode and 45mA during start). Practically it means the device is able to work longer than others, what also results with more images per one charging. Genesis GPS-N is equipped with a remote shutter release with 90cm cord and BULB function. The kit contains also a short strap, which can be helpful with mounting a receiver to a camera and to mount the flash on camera hot shoe. Working with GPS-N is extremely easy. Just attach the receiver to cameras GPS port using proper cable, and turn on both of the devices. The GPS icon starts to flash on the cameras screen, which means the receiver is determining its position. In some specific environment conditions (forest, tall buildings or electromagnetic interference) it can takes more than 36 sec. A succesful determining will be confirmed with constant light of GPS icon. Geographic location, actual time and altitude data are available in camera menu. From now on, the location information will be saved to the EXIF format.
