Driver: San Francisco è il quinto episodio della serie Driver ed è stato sviluppato dalla Ubisoft Reflections e pubblicato da Ubisoft (che acquisì i diritti del gioco da Atari nel 2006). La Collector's Edition per PC contiene: una riproduzione da collezione della Dodge Challenger R/T del 1970 in scala 1:24, una mappa di San Francisco con la posizione di tutti gli elementi collezionabili, il fumetto di Driver, tre auto per il multiplayer (l'Aston Martin DB5 del 1963, la Lamborghini Miura del 1972 e la Shelby Cobra 427 del 1966), quattro nuove sfide per la modalità single player. Driver: San Francisco appartiene al genere "sandbox" ed è uno dei pochi giochi di guida presenti in questo genere. Il gioco si svolge interamente in un "sogno" di Tanner, il protagonista infatti, dopo aver avuto un incidente insieme al compagno Tobias Jones durante l'inseguimento a Jericho (riuscito a evadere di prigione dopo essere stato catturato in Driv3r), ha la peggio e cade in coma. Durante il coma Tanner vive l'indagine per catturare Jericho con un'abilità speciale: riesce a sostituire in qualsiasi momento una qualsiasi persona sembrando comunque agli occhi degli altri la persona sostituita, passando da un'auto all'altra situate anche in zone diverse della mappa di gioco (operazione chiamata "Shift", un sistema innovativo presente anche nella modalità multiplayer).
