I have chosen a marine expert to oversee the sale of my boat and to provide all of the information you require.   Built in 2007 but first launched in 2008. I bought this V65 in 2011 and have made many happy memories cruising around Italy.    Every year I have made sure I have gone over and above on the general maintenance and servicing to make sure it remains in perfect condition. Last year I completely refurbished the interior including all the alcantara upholstery of the walls and ceilings and all of the floor carpeting and I replaced all of the exterior cushions.    The engines have always been maintained by MAN and 2 years ago the axles and propellers were overhauled and balanced. 2 years ago all hydraulic pumps were overhauled as well as bow thruster and stern thruster. Last winter all the external teak was replaced with a 12mm “solid” from bow to stern including gangway and swim platform.   The crew cabin has been modified which now houses 2 crew beds. Last winter the insulation of the engine room was completely redone, not only thermal but also acoustic. Many upgrades after purchase by her second owner. This just is a spectacular yacht and most likely the only example sailing the Dutch waters. Due to her location she benefits of having rare extra’s as a completely new (2020) Kabola HR central water heating system that has been seamless integrated with her full air-conditioning system. Furthermore a large Victron Quattro 24/5000/120 inverter/charger combination with digital remote control. This last option enables you to limit the shore power to any desired value. Once you have foot on deck you instantly sense the quality and feeling only a brand like Riva can produce. A 350kg Besenzoni hydraulic crane is found under an electric operated lid that also houses the electric powered cable drum for the Riva’s shore power cable and little storage for cleaning items. Furthermore you find a hydraulic Besenzoni gangway in a cassette that slides nearly invisible below deck. Solid teak decks, original Riva wooden table and foldable super sturdy polished Riva chairs can convert her cockpit to a dining for eight. Beautiful lighted lockers are found throughout the master and a very comfortable make up table is integrated. En suite a very large head with all facilities as shower compartment, wash basin, toilet and bidet are found with the last two beautiful hidden under a grp Riva design lid. Corridor: In between Master and guest cabin the central connecting corridor is placed and also functions as super large storage for appliances as for example a vacuum cleaner and other householding items.   Guest cabins: On both port and starboard there are two ample sized guest cabins, both with own en-suite heads and identical facilities as the Dolce Vita’s Master head. Optionally the guest cabin twin berth layout can be changed to a double or even two double guest cabins. Helm position: On starboard a very well equipped helm station gives you full control of this beautiful Riva, a very nice feature is the remote control that enables full control from wherever you are. Quad digital interfaces powers the MAN engines as well as bow and stern thrusters. Although the navigation systems are a little outdated the systems work fine and give you all information you need. Imagine this Riva 70 with all new black flush mounted touch screen panels…   Galley:   The enormous fully airconditioned and full beam galley is found on the Riva’s full beam and the entrance is located on her starboard side with only 4 steps down. Very large L-shaped Avonite® worktop with double integrated stainless steel sinks with hot/cold mixer tap and a separate salt water sink and salt water tap. Forget about the exterior staircase as you find far more comfortable stairs to the fly from inside.   Engine room: The true masterpiece is found below deck, her engine room! Once you enter from her electric operated entrance you will notice that time stood still. After 20 years it is still as it was delivered by Riva. It was just kept very well and very tidy. Katja was launched in England on August 15th, 1929, the year of the Wall Street crash in America and the beginning of the Great Depression that was soon to assail Europe. She survived the destruction of the Second World War after taking part in Operation Dynamo as a Little Ship, one of the 800 civilian vessels that evacuated hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940. Katja is a 14.7 meter long motoryacht, designed by H. Parker and built of wood by the Brooke shipyard in Lowestoft. She is still in perfect condition thanks to the doting care of her four owners, two English and two Italian, the latest since the early 1990’s. Katja was built for Mawdesley Brooke, the owner of the yard that launched her in 1929, and was named for one of his daughters. The yard’s roots stretch back to 1874 when Brooke Ironworks, specialized in engines, began activity in Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft. Renamed Brooke Motorcraft between the wars, the firm was managed by Waveney Brooke until after the end of World War II. Katja’s first main engine was a 100 hp, six cylinder Brooke N°4059 type 40 F diesel, with a 5 hp Brooke “Dominion” as auxiliary propulsion. In 1931 she was sold to a new owner in Leicester for £ 2,875. Based for a period in Great Yarmouth, 200 km north of London and only 15 km from Lowestoft, in 1950 she traveled through the French canals down to the Mediterranean, flying the white ensign as a Dunkirk Little Ship. Katja welcomed the change from the misty English coasts to the mild climate of the Mediterranean. In 1967 she was given a new main engine, a 145 hp Perkins T6354, and a new 30 hp Mercedes auxiliary. In the early 1990’s she was purchased by a new owner from Rome, who sailed her in the Tyrrhenian from Tuscany’s Porto Santo Stefano. Sailing from her new base, Katja participated in classic yacht events in Montecarlo, La Spezia, Bocca di Magra and Anzio.   REFITS AND AWARDS  In recent years Katja has undergone several refits in Tuscan yards; Lacchini, and then Mileo. Founded by Constabile Mileo in 1951, the Mileo yard was known for their continuous production of dozens of wooden vessels. In 2003 the yard, run by the Mileo brothers Pompeo, Vincenzo and Domenico, began a major refit. The 25mm pitch pine planking below the waterline was replaced, with 8/9 meter long planks attached to oak frames with steel screws. The keelson was rebuilt to increase purchase for elements of the new frames, tightly fit between the keel and the stem. The hull was caulked in the traditional manner with calico, then faired and painted. The keel and stem, both of oak, are original. A new main engine (Perkins 240hp) combined with a four-bladed propeller, gives Katja a top speed of 12 knots. Other major jobs included fitting a bow-thruster, rebuilding the teak deck incorporating a layer of plywood, redoing the hydraulic and electrical systems and fuel lines, and replacing the wheel with a new hydraulic control. Remote steering is also set up, allowing Katjato be run from on deck while underway. The auxiliary motor was upgraded to an 80hp Perkins, with a folding propellor to port, giving her a respectable six knots. All this care lavished on Katja couldn’t pass unnoticed, and during the 1992 Monaco Classic Week she was awarded 156 out of 210 possible points, putting her at the top of the ASDEC classification. The ‘Associazione Scafi d’Epoca e Classici’ has been protecting and diffusing the culture of classic and vintage yachting since 1987.   “Her topsides have sleek and very elegant lines - a gentle joining of the deckhouses to their pavilions, a smooth transition between deck levels, with the aft deckhouse windows that follow the sinuous curve of the sheer, the handrails that gradually run lower as they approach the bow and the side deck that curves towards the coachroof. It all denotes the execution of an excellent design by a renowned boatyard.” This quote from the early 1990’s by Piero Maria Gibellini, one of the world’s authorities on motor yachts and auxiliaries, refers to Katja. Her present owner, after almost thirty years of cruising Katja, cannot but emphasize how well laid out she is, with many separate spaces to enjoy even when there are many aboard. The foredeck is a terrace over the sea, one of her strongpoints. It gives privacy when moored stern to, and there’s always fresh air even on the hottest days. A sturdy awning covers the foredeck, with it’s two chaise longue (originally from the ocean liner Conte Biancamano; launched in 1925, she was sent to the wrecking yard in 1961), table and benches for up to ten guests. Two sun pads are laid above the aft coachroof and the wheelhouse. A true gangway is mounted to starboard, for ease of embarking and disembarking.   INTERIORS AND THE BAGLIETTO TENDER  Katja’s refined interiors make her a welcoming and comfortable yacht. The fine finishings, from the wainscoting to the cabin cabinetry, plus the paintings and vintage gouaches in the owner’s cabin, all combine to remind you of the Orient Express and send you back in time. She has seven berths: two in the owner’s cabin forward, two in the guest cabin, and three from the seating in the main cabin – one twin and one single berth. Katja’s vintage launch is a work of art. Today only a few builders offer customized options at a premium price.  Iolair Mara is a unique yacht built-in CA in the late sixties. Her ¼ inch steel hull, her tri keels design, her 5’6”’ draft, and her 3000 nm range under power will sail expeditions all around the globe or entertain charter clients in the Bahamas, HI, or Alaska.  In 1998 she was hauled out for a $ 2.5 M retrofit that was 60 % completed in 2005. A series of dramatic events follow. She was sized. Stayed 6 years on the hard shrink-wrapped. The actual owner got her out of the yard in 2012, completed the 40% remaining refit to get her to her original glory. She was lucky to have found John. It has been a perfect match for both of them. John loves a strong, well-powered world cruiser. He is now proud to offer this showcase vessel for a portion of the price it would cost to build her today. For sale is a Baltic 55 DP modified for exploration from 1989 GRYNING is hull #9 and as such, the last of the popular Baltic 55's built. GRYNING was expertly outfitted for short handed passage making when built. She has primarily been captain maintained and constantly upgraded.  In 2015 she was converted/upgraded for Polar Explrations and sailed into the most difficult weather conditions in the North Sea, Med and North Atlantic Ocean, without any issues. With her shoal draft wing keel and user friendly deck layout, she is a perfect world cruiser. GRYNING was extensively refit during winters 1999/2000, 2000/2001, 2003/2004, 2005/2006 and 2013 at the BALTIC YACHTS SHIPYARD. During the winter of 2013 she was at a Baltic yard where a lifecycle service was done.  GRYNING is a truly fast and comfortable passage maker. A lot of the upgrades, such as larger engine with matched propeller, carbon fiber rudder, carbon fiber pocket boom, carbon fiber mast and other sail handling equipment she has received over the past few years have further enhanced her speed and ease of handling.Under power she has a cruising speed of 8 knots at 2,200 rpm and 9+ knots at 85% engine power. At 6 knots she has a range of 1000 Nm under engine.She was 1st in class and second overall in the Marblehead-Halifax Ocean Race 2003, 3rd in class and third overall 2005 and 2nd in class in the Newport-Bermuda Race 2008.
